Shandong launches quality cultural, tourism products
The Shandong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism on May 19 launched the province's list of 600 quality cultural and tourism products after several selection rounds -- on the same day that also marked the annual China Tourism Day, according to local officials.
The list covers six sections: scenic spots, cultural performances, cultural venues, cuisine and food streets, featured hotels and homestays, as well as specialties and souvenirs.

The province's 100 scenic spots made the list, including Mount Tai, Laoshan Mountain, Taierzhuang ancient town and Daming Lake, where tourists can explore Shandong's beautiful landscape.
Shandong's 100 operas, traditional opera, folk music and performances were recommended. They included Mount Tai puppetry, Lyu Opera, Shandong kuaishu -- a traditional Chinese story-telling art that originated in Shandong province more than 200 years ago -- and Shandong qinshu, a traditional narrative music which emphasizes a conversational style of singing.
The province's 100 specialties and cuisines such as Qixia apple, Zhoucun sesame seed cake, Dezhou braised chicken and Confucius family cuisine were also recommended.
Local officials said that Shandong will further strengthen marketing and the promotion of its rich cultural and tourism resources.
This year it will host the 2020 Shandong Tourism Development Conference and the First China International Cultural and Tourism Expo to promote Shandong to the world.
