Eight time-honored brands of Jinan city, East China's Shandong province are on show at Beijing's Palace Museum to celebrate the upcoming Chinese New Year.

The so-called time-honored brands, or "laozihao" in Chinese, refer to companies that sell products with famous names and long histories.

The eight brands include Luweizhai, a brand with assorted deli, founded in 1927, Hongjitang, a traditional Chinese medicine brand established in 1907, Ye Fengshu pancake and Zhangqiu iron pot.

The event was jointly hosted by the Shandong Provincial Department of Commerce and the Palace Museum to introduce a total of 150 time-honored brands from 10 provinces and cities, including Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Jiangsu province, Shandong province and Zhejiang province.

On display is a dazzling array of local snacks, traditional New Year goods, cultural supplies, characteristic crafts and intangible cultural heritage products for visitors to get to know more about some century-old traditional brands and unique culture in Shandong province. The event will last until Feb 10.
